Rock Strength Determination Based on Rock Drillability Index and Drilling Specific Energy: Numerical Simulation Using Discrete Element Method

چکیده
In the present research, two real-time rock strength determination models based on drilling parameters were studied. Firstly, a discrete element software named Particle Flow Code in 2 Dimensions (PFC 2D ) was used to analyze applicability of drillability index and specific energy, which graded particle assemblies created simulate behaviour. numerical models, Weibull distribution randomize bonds between particles make assembled model with different heterogeneity. The process PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) cutter modelled steps: horizontal linear cutting vertical pressing-in progress. From process, peak forces obtained outputs relationship normal force depth. Subsequently, methods for calculating energy proposed model. Then, calculated indexes investigated (supported regression analysis). Moreover, effect heterogeneity, along error comparison above indexes, discussed. results showed that is more accurate than assessment (The about 10% smaller).

Rock Slope Stability Analysis Using Discrete Element Method
Rock slope stability depends very much on the strength features of the rock and the geometrical and strength characteristics of the discontinuities (e.g., roughness, wall strength and persistence). Since a rock mass is not a continuum, its behavior is dominated by such discontinuities as faults, joints and bedding planes. Also, Rock slope instability is a major hazard for human activities and o...

متن کاملNumerical Simulation of the Rock SHPB Test with a Special Shape Striker Based on the Discrete Element Method
A split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system with a special shape striker has been suggested as the test method by the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) to determine the dynamic characteristics of rock materials. In order to further verify this testing technique and microscopically reveal the dynamic responses of specimens in SHPB tests, a numerical SHPB test system was establishe...
متن کاملSoil and Rock Slope Stability Analysis based on Numerical Manifold Method and Graph Theory
Limit equilibrium method, strength reduction method and Finite Difference Methods are the most prevalently used methods for soil and rock slope stability analysis. However, it can be mention that those have some limitations in practical application. In the Limit equilibrium method, the constitutive model cannot be considered and many assumptions are needed between slices of soil and rock. The s...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Rock Mechanics Tests in Layered Media Using a Finite / Discrete Element Approach
A numerical simulation based on a finite/discrete element approach is used to study the deformation and failure process of standard rock mechanics tests on Opalinus clay samples, when subjected to static loading conditions. The layered structure of the Opalinus clay is considered and the resultant anisotropic behaviour is modelled. Rock heterogeneity is also taken into account, with the main pu...
